Director Richard Tompkins has had more than 20 years of experience developing juniors at a national level. His international coaching staff are also experts in junior development. Richard's wife Sandy is the general manager and in charge of the academy's strength/conditioning programs. Regardless of skill level, if you are serious about developing as a tennis player, this is the camp for you. All juniors will be grouped by ability from beginner to top national level players.
With its strong reputation for high performance training, Tompkins Tennis continues that tradition in Pebble Beach with five hours of tennis and fitness each day. Every student will have their forehand, backhand, and serve videotaped during the week. The mornings cover drilling, stroke technique, movement, and agility. The afternoons focus on singles and doubles play, tactics, and specific point situations.
Following the daily training, our objective is for the juniors to enjoy a fun camping experience. We have a different evening activity planned for each night, including a trip to the beach and hiking around the area. Older campers have an option of kayaking on beautiful Monterey Bay (parental permission required). We will host a team Davis Cup competition on the final day each week with an awards ceremony to follow.
Special Note: Special clay court training will take place during the first week of camp for those competitive juniors competing in the National Clay Court tournament later in the month.
